Natural Konjac Sponge
Natural Konjac fibres and nourishing mineral extracts deeply cleanse skin for a radiant complexion. Gentle enough for sensitive skin, Friendly Soap's silky Konjac Sponge is the perfect partner for your Soap.
This simple skin care essential is made from konjac, which is a porous root vegetable that’s native to Asia.
Once wet, it expands and is as soft as jelly and full of skin-friendly goodness! Great for everyday use in the shower or to help remove make-up, this naturally deep cleansing sponge is perfect for sensitive skin. Plus, being made of veg means it’s 100% biodegradable too.
When you first use a konjac sponge, it will have a firm, tight texture, so your first step is to fill the sink with warm water and submerge the sponge for a minute or so, until it has expanded and is lovely and soft.
Gently squeeze out the excess water, and then it’s ready for use.
Once you’re done cleansing, give the sponge a final rinse and then squeeze out the excess water. Hang it up to dry properly – don’t leave it on the sink!
Konjac sponges harden when dry, so simply let them soak in the shower or sink for a minute to soften them up before using.
Konjac sponges are a natural material, so will start to biodegrade over time. If you take care of your sponge, it should last you around six to eight weeks. We recommend replacing after six to make sure your skin stays clean and healthy.
Not only will the plastic used to make standard sponges never biodegrade but they also release microfibres into the water. This is now ending up in our food chains, meaning that we are eating up to a credit card-sized amount of plastic every week.
Many also contain Triclosan, an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal chemical impregnated in some sponges. This chemical has detrimental effects on our marine ecosystems.
By switching to a 100% natural Konjac sponge that is biodegradable ensures that you're doing your bit to help lower these issues.
