97% of wildflower meadows in the UK have been lost since the 1930s, mostly through land ploughed for farming. Much of this took place in WW2 to produce cereals for the country.
Despite this, wildflower meadows remain one of the most crucial habitats in the country, with over 150 plant species per meadow. These plants support a vast range of insects, which in turn feed animals and birds. In total, it's estimated that there can be up to 40 species in each square metre of meadow, making it one of the most diverse habitats in Britain.
Use your Seedbom mix to help preserve this invaluable habitat for many of our most well loved species!
